What is the principle of air dryer?

The refrigerated air dryer working principle is based on de-humidifying air by rapidly cooling it, condensing it, and draining off the moisture. The operation is like that of a domestic refrigerator or home air-conditioning system.


How does a refrigeration air dryer work?

Refrigerated air dryers operate with a similar principle to domestic refrigerators or home air conditioning systems. The compressed air is cooled in an air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger to about 35°F, a temperature where the moisture condenses and is drained off.


What is the function of air dryer in humidity?

The basic function of the air dryer is to remove moisture from the air by cooling it with a refrigerant. Thus, the water vapor is condensed, and the air can be compressed. The result is dry compressed air, which can be used in compressed air equipment without causing any damage.


Which gas is used in air dryer?

The compressors used in this type of dryer are usually of the hermetic type and the most common gas used is R-134a and R-410a for smaller air dryers up to 100 cfm.


What causes an air dryer to freeze?

In cold ambient conditions, refrigerated air dryers may operate too efficiently. As moisture is separated out by the dryer, it can be cooled to a point where it will freeze within the heat exchanger, causing blockages or damage.
